The Rules Of Craps
While craps may appear difficult to the untrained eye, the reality is that the rules of the game are actually quite easy. The players at the table get to take turns being the shooter, which is the name for the person who is throwing the pair of dice. The outcome of the shooters roll is what the rest of the players at the table wagers on. Any player who wishes to be the shooter must bet the table minimum on one of two different lines. The two lines are the don’t pass line and the pass line. The option to be the shooter rotates around the table clockwise and any player is allowed to pass and elect not to be the shooter if they do not want to be.
At the start, a come-out roll is thrown which establishes the point. Come out rolls that result in two, three or twelve are called craps and the result is that all players who placed bets on the pass line lose. Rolls that result as a seven or an eleven are considered natural and, as a result, pass line bets win. Until a point is established, the come-out roll is repeated. If the shooter throws a four through six or an eight through ten, that number becomes the point and the come out roll is concluded. A button is placed on the point number and the shooter can then roll for either the point number or a seven. If a seven is rolled, the round is over and the dice are passed to the next person.
